It’s very difficult for managers or colleagues to fully recognize someone else’s work and its impact. Plus, it’s easy to forget other people’s achievements. Giving objective feedback is impossible without knowing what the other person has done.
Having this document is extremely helpful when requesting a promotion since it provides managers with a resource for a more objective analysis. It also allows you to highlight what you consider strong evidence for a promotion.
On top of that, simply having this document is clear proof of proactivity.
